José Bastón is President of Content and Television of Grupo Televisa, the world's largest Spanish-speaking media conglomerate.
Mr. Bastón joined Grupo Televisa in 1989 as Marketing Manager for Channel 12 of Tijuana, one of the most important markets on the U.S.-Mexico border.
From 1992 to 1999, back in Mexico City, he got to know the television business inside out by occupying executive positions in Televisa's key fields, such as programming, acquisitions, content development and strategic planning. In February 2001, he was appointed Corporate Vice President of Television, i.e., head of all the company's content and television businesses, which today generate more than 50% of the group's consolidated revenues and operating income.

With Mr. Bastón as Corporate Vice President of Television, the company maintained a 70% share of Mexic's Broadcast TV market and made a smooth and successful transition into digital convergence. Today, Televisa is much more than TV, it's content that unfolds across every platform: four broadcast TV channels, 29 pay-TV signals, the most visited Internet portal in Spanish, publications and digital content for mobile devices and the Internet.
Appointed President of Content and Television in 2008, Mr. Bastón has furthered important initiatives that strengthened Televisa's position as the world's most important producer of multiplatform content in Spanish and set down the guidelines for future growth in diversified revenues derived from content for digital media and in diverse languages, and from leadership in new distribution platforms.
Mr. Bastón is also a member of the company's Board of Directors and Executive Committee and a member of the boards of Cablevision, SKY and Univision.
