Univision and Televisa sign alliance with Caracol Television
Televisa Univision Communications announced today the signing of a long term agreement with Caracol in order to produce and broadcast Caracol's content in Mexico and the US. Under this agreement, Univision's subsidiary chain, UniMás, is to broadcast Caracol's telenovelas and series in the US.
Univision, through UniMás (formerly known as TeleFutura), is to broadcast yearly in the prime time, a minimal amount of hours produced by Caracol, among which, telenovelas, series and entertainment programs can be selected. On the other hand, Televisa will have access to the Colombian company's heritage to produce and broadcast Caracol's original programs through Televisa's open and pay TV signals in Mexico and Latin America. The agreement shall be valid as of January 2013.
Caracol Television's Chairman, Gonzalo Córdoba, stated that "This agreement is one of the most important international strategic alliances Caracol has signed in its entire existence, considering our strong bet for globalizing the content we create, and maximizing our scope worldwide. Televisa and Univision are ideal partners to meet this goal."
José Bastón, Grupo Televisa's Contents and Television Chairman, said "Counting with Caracol's content for showing it to our open and pay TV audiences is part of the commitment Grupo Televisa has to broadcast the highest quality content and most varied gender."
"This agreement with Caracol is part of the commitment we have to offer our audience the best content, and we feel proud of having the possibility to become partners with this great company in order to provide the US with more choices", added Cesar Conde, Univision Chains' Chairman.
