Globomedia and Grupo Televisa came to an agreement to produce contents

Globomedia and Grupo Televisa have reached a Framework Agreement for the constitution of a joint production company that will develop TV contents addressed to the Spanish and International markets. This alliance emerged as a result of Grupo Televisa's integration to the Imagina Media Audovisual's shareholders, a holding of which Globomedia is also part. The new production company will hold the adaptation rights of Televisa's catalogue for Spain. Furthermore, it will be able to launch original productions.

According to the agreement entered into, Grupo Televisa will incorporate the rights of Sony's fiction catalogue for Spain, a company with which it has recently signed an important collaboration agreement.

In a strategic operation of great significance, Grupo Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish language world according to its capitalization in the market, allies with Globomedia, the first Spanish producer by production volume, in order to enter the Spanish production market. This Framework Agreement joins the two leading Hispanic production companies in Spain and America with a successful catalogue.

Globomedia is the leading company in Spain for its production load, broadcasting hours and foreign sales. Its TV series ('Aguila Roja', 'El barco', 'Aída', 'Luna'...) lead the audience rankings in the main public and private networks, having a very important projection abroad. It is also a reference in the creation of original content in current comedy shows.

Globomedia is part of Imagina Media Audiovisual, a holding shared by the Globomedia's and Mediapro's founders, as well as by the British Consortium WPP, Torreal and Grupo Televisa itself.

Daniel Écija, Globomedia's chairman, has expressed his 'satisfaction' towards an agreement that enables a preferential access to two of the best worldwide fiction catalogues, Grupo Televisa's and Sony Pictures. "We are pleased to create this network with our Mexican partners. We believe it is a very important agreement that boosts Globomedia's international expansion. It will be very productive for both parties".

On the other hand, Jose Bastón, Grupo Televisa's Television and Contents chairman, stated that "the agreement with Globomedia is a major step to consolidate Grupo Televisa's presence in the Spanish language world and Europe, hand in hand with a great partner, since an essential part of the growth in the contents business lies in the format selling, co-production agreements and synergies with experts".
